Mackay Bros

JAE 97 Mackay Bros Upright Pianoforte with stool.  Serial number 6350. This piano has a burr walnut casing, note the detail of the etched centre panel. Being called the Transvaal model makes this a piece of South African history! The piano would date to pre 1920 and one can’t help but think of its history. It would likely have been brought to Africa on a steam ship, and have been transported by wagon to its destination. If only these items could speak! Mackay was a name used by a dealership as opposed to being a factory. The piano is German, and was probably manufactured by a factory like Zimmermann. The dimensions of this piano are: a height of 125 cm, width of 150 cm and a depth of 63 cm.
