Serial number: D3082153. This Model M1J was manufactured in Japan in 1980. The piano is a high quality and smaller model Yamaha. It would have been an expensive piano from the Yamaha range, as cheaper options were being offered at the time. Purchased from one of our Country’s best known opera singers, it was used for pitch purposes during singing lessons, so may have helped nurture many more singers. The piano has an American walnut, satin finish.
The tone is pleasantly lively, not overly bright as one would expect in an earlier model Yamaha. It has 88 keys – with medium to heavier touch – and 3 pedals. The dimensions of this piano are a height of 108 cm, a width 148 cm and a depth 54 cm.
