Serial number: M3514417. This model U1 piano was manufactured in Japan, in 1982. The U1 Yamaha has an amazing reputation and is considered the Professional standard upright piano. This one is particularly good example. It has a hammer containing a blue underfelt, which appears to be a special range, and the serial number beginning “”M”, which from the many U1’s we’ve seen, this indicates that it has an especially rich tone, which many similar pianos lack, for being a bit tinny.
The high gloss, mahogany casing makes it even better as few people realise the additional cost of a wood-finish piano when compared to black, as veneers have to be prepared and matched and the finish needs to be perfect, whereas in black finishes these details are not important. The condition is virtually as new. The soft-pedal packing block hadn’t even been removed, which must show the lack of use the piano has had… These pianos are exceptionally difficult to find and sell unbelievably well at ever increasing values.
This piano has 88 keys and 3 pedals. The third pedal is a practice pedal – it operates the celeste rail. Its dimensions are a height of 121 cm, width of 150.5 cm and a depth of 61 cm.
The DE 758 Yamaha Upright Pianoforte and stool is currently hired out.
