Yamaha, Japan.
Model G2 grand piano.
Serial number 998427
Built in Japan in the late 1960’s. These are the toughest pianos! Built like a wooden battleship. This model of Yamaha was the piano I have been the most successful with in my career. We had one, bought privately, it had previously been in a Club, complete with cigarette stains and burns, signs of drink inside it and so on, which we then used as a function rental piano for years, later repolished it, later still fitted new hammers to it, had it on long-term rental for years and then eventually sold it.
That piano withstood all the hammering it was subjected to, would stand in-tune rock solidly even after several transports. Amazing. That era is presumably where Yamaha earned an impressive reputation. We bought it from an illustrious Johannesburg family who had owned it for decades. It stood undisturbed and hardly used in the same home for all that time. It has 88 keys. The touch is silky and the wonderful rich older Yamaha tone resonates beautifully. The condition is entirely original. There are one or two small blemishes on the casing but these aren’t noticeable. These are highly sought pianos and are suitable for any level of use.
The G2 grand is 1.8m long.
The Yamaha G2 Grand piano DE921 is available for rental as of the end of February 2026 with a launch fee of R 8 500.00 and a monthly charge of R 4 600.00. The sales price is R 185 000.00.
