Serial number: 347788. This Model 100 Steinway and Sons upright piano was manufactured in New York. This is the first of this exact model Steinway we have seen in South Africa.
So beautifully finished in mahogany, the exacting styling details and wonderfully compact, clean design is unmatched. If the hallmark of good quality design is that an item can seamlessly fit into a modern setting, 80 years later, then this must be fantastic design! But as one must not choose a piano merely by its looks, by its merit as an instrument…this is a Steinway!
The piano has 88 keys, with original ivory, and 2 pedals. It has wonderful “playability” with a medium weight touch and crisp tones. Its dimensions are a height of 105 cm, a width of 149 cm and a depth of 62 cm.
The DE 714 Steinway and Sons Upright Pianoforte and stool was sold in November 2024.
