Serial number: 49338. This piano was manufactured in Holland, in 1960. Rippen pianos are not as familiar to people in South Africa, most of which have Renner Actions – a expensive attribute and something always recognised as a sign of premier quality.
The piano had been painted with the Chateau Grey shade of Annie Sloane Chalk Paint (June 2018). We were very impressed with the outcome as it was a rather attractive off-green colour… but the finish was negatively impacted by wear and tear so it was revitalised during February 2023 with a fresh new coat of a greener grey chalk paint. The chalk finish suits the lovely compact style of the piano.
This piano has 88 keys – with a medium to heavier touch – and 2 pedals. The dimensions of the piano are a height of 105 cm, a width of 141.5 cm and a depth of 51 cm.
The DE 512 Rippen Upright Pianoforte with stool is currently hired out.
This is how the piano looked when it was painted during February 2023, but had not been waxed properly.
The following photographs show how the piano looked when it was first painted in February 2018.
