Serial numbers: 17445; 10236/85. Otto Bach pianos have earned a reputation to be a reliable, standard piano in South Africa, this one actually manufactured in South Africa in the 1970’s.
The piano’s casing was painted with the Barcelona Orange Chalk Paint (April 2017) and then with Granny B’s General Lee shade of orange, somewhat less bright and more appealing (April 2022). Although the topcoats could be distressed to reveal the Paris Grey undercoat, we have found these unusual colours for piano casing to be very popular as one, plain, bold colour.
The piano has a brighter tone, 88 keys – with a medium weight touch – and 2 pedals. The dimensions of this piano are a height of 109 cm, width of 144 cm and a depth of 55.5 cm.
The JAE 410 Otto Bach Upright Piano with matching stool is currently hired out.

The photographs below show the piano when it was first painted – with the Barcelona Orange Chalk Paint.

The photos below show the piano as it looked when we purchased the piano. Although the sun-bleached lighter look has an appeal, it just was not consistent and the contrast was too apparent.
