The Kimball brand is highly recognised in America and some sources state that the company – in certain periods – produced the most pianos in the world. Starting with organs as well as piano production in 1857, the company remained in family hands for just over a century. It was then sold to a well-regarded furniture producer, Jasper Corp. The company later went on to change its name to Kimball International.
Although similar structural aspects can be compared in style to the jazzy Wurlitzer uprights, these pianos were designed for home use and are somewhat daintier in appearance. This is an attractive, small piano with beautiful, delicate additional finishes – like the music desk and detached Queen Anne legs.
The DE 256 Kimball upright pianoforte and stool is currently hired out.
