Serial number: 91038. This Grötrian Steinweg was manufactured in 1963 in Braunsweig, Germany. It is a `Model 160, which indicates that the piano is 160 cm in length.
The photos are taken exactly as it came into the workshop without any cleaning or repair. In South African terms, a very late model piano and of considerable rarity. The condition is entirely original. The casing, although minor signs of wear can be found, is in outstanding condition overall, so the option of retouching and cleaning up of the gloss finish seems the correct route to take in keeping with the authenticity of the instrument. The original stool is still with the piano.
The piano has 88 keys and 2 pedals. It retains its single piece ivory clad, in near perfect condition.
The DE 948 Grötrian Steinweg grand pianoforte and stool is currently hired out.
