Serial number: 104682. This Model 185 Grötrian Steinweg was manufactured in Braunsweig, Germany in 1971.
We see many good pianos, but some stand out. This must be one of the best grand pianos available in South Africa. This piano is in entirely original condition, something we always feel is desirable as it’s “from the factory” and is how they intended it to be.
The black polished casing is original. It does have some subtle cracking in the finish which we expected to find due to its polyester finish which ages in this way. However, this is not visible to the naked eye and is hardly noticeable: the ex-owner had not noticed it, and it was missed when viewing the piano for purchase. The piano was bought for the lady we purchased it from when new, so is a one owner family piano.
This size, 185cm, is a wonderful balance of being large enough to experience a grand tone, but small enough to suit homes. It really “sings”! The ivory keys, unusual cut in one piece rather than having a head and tail, are in sublime condition.
