Feurich Upright Piano (668)

Serial number: 44942. This Julius Feurich upright piano was built in 1928 in Leipzig, Germany. We can’t state strongly enough that this kind of quality does not come round often. This is why German top brand pianos had such an enormous reputation. It is yet another fantastic pre-war German upright of superior quality!

Again, one can easily see why the idea of the Golden-age of piano making exists and remains alive. The sheer levels of craftsmanship and quality are astounding. The results of the use of the highest quality materials, available resources of the highest quality timber harvests in history and hugely qualified technicians and builders, are pianos like this. This is a superb example of the make – an absolutely beautiful piano of the highest quality.

The casing is repolished in high gloss black. Note details like the carved mouldings on the panel, the pull-out light, which may or may not function depending on time and general fit of parts.

The tone is incredibly rich and balanced. A good piano should have range meaning it can be played softly or loudly and produce differing tonal qualities depending on how the pianist wants to interpret music. Many pianos, especially modern ones, don’t have that ability and thus confuse the comparison between ‘tone’ and ‘volume’ – not the same thing.

The dimensions are as follows a height of 127cm, a width of 150cm and a depth of 66cm. It has 85 keys, with a medium to firm touch, a lovely balanced combination of responsiveness and smoothness. It has 3 pedals, the middle pedal operates a celeste-felt rail. It is extremely unusual for pianos of this period to have 3 pedals.

The DE 668 Feurich upright piano and stool is currently hired out.
