Serial number 81206. This Challen was manufactured in London in 1955. It has a beautiful, figured walnut case, note the photo taken of the top showing the beautiful book-matched veneer, which follows through over the fallboard. This quality of veneering is an art to achieve – showing traditional craftsmanship, hand-built care and attention to detail, a beautiful piece. This is genuinely one of the cleanest pianos we have had, the all original condition is quite astonishing. It is a true baby grand being just 128 cm long and 144 cm in width. These small grands are ever popular as they offer the classic look everyone loves but don’t always have room for. The tone is cheerful being neither too bright nor too mellow. It has 88 keys, with a medium touch weight – lighter than on the average grand piano, and 2 pedals.
