Serial number: 73709. This Challen grand piano was manufactured in London in 1950.
It has a satin black finish. You do not get many pianos with a satin in comparison to a high gloss black. It is a piano that we have considered re-polishing as its black casing shows some wear. However, it seems that this has been perceived as more of a patina – a desired appearance of age and use. There is something alluring about a piano with a smooth, sleek and subtle appearance rather than starkly new, shiny and reflective.
DE 952 Challen Grand Pianoforte and stool was sold in March 2025.
