Bernhard Steiner Upright Piano (527)

Serial number: 129472. This particular Bernhard Steiner piano was manufactured in about 1965. It looks like it was made by Kemble given the design and frame features, however it is highly unlikely as it has distinct features that indicate it was manufactured in Germany. Another reason is because it has a Renner, top class action, which Kemble pianos do not have. It is a really good quality, premier piano nevertheless.

Bernard Steiner is not a specific piano make; it is the rebranded name placed on a variety of different makes of pianos. If you search (top right-hand corner) for Bernhard Steiner, you will be able to see just how many pianos have been relabelled.

The delicate frame in its front panel and its Queen Anne legs make it exceptionally attractive. Refinished in Annie Sloan English Yellow chalk paint (02/2021), this piano is bright and cheerful.
With a medium to rich mellow tone, it’s a wonderful piano which feels of quality when played. It has 88 keys – with a medium to slightly heavier touch – and 2 pedals. The dimensions are a height of 114 cm, a width of 142 cm and a depth of 54 cm.

The DE 527 Bernhard Steiner Upright Pianoforte and stool is currently hired out.

    Once upon a time…

There was a beautiful, sweet and coy piano, but it was not cared for as it should have been and the scratches and marks started showing. So, Eshelby Pianos revitalised the finish with a contemporary yellow, soft and lively chalk paint and it lived happily ever after – we hope!
