This make has a very interesting history in the trade. Manufactured by Whelpdale, Maxwell and Codd Ltd. (est. 1876)- in London, England. The company started as the Bluthner (manufactured in Liepzig, Germany) agents for the U.K. but needed to adjust following the change of attitude towards Germans with WW1. With various other influences also, they created the well-recognised Welmar piano brand. The name Welmar was derived from the two directors: Mr Whelpdale and Mr Maxwell.
This is an attractive piano finished off with brilliantly matched veneer. It shows true craftsmanship!
Purchased just before the heavy Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, it hardly settled in our showrooms before it was sold.
The DE 749 Welmar Upright Piano with stool was sold in July 2020.
