This tall piano was manufactured in Berlin, Germany in the 1920’s. Pianos built in this period preceding World War Two carry the earlier efforts to build better and produce more to satisfy the desire for a piano in everyone’s homes. The overwhelming piano manufacturing competition propelled the drive for internal quality and external craftmanship. Production was at a height that was not yet interrupted by warfare. These were fully functioning and focussed factories that established the distinguished value of the rich, warm, rounded ‘German’ tone and secured the sturdy aesthetic standard.
The Reinhold Schrother factory was established in 1914 only producing five-hundred pianos within the first six years and was out of business in 1930 having only built five-thousand pianos.
The height of this piano allows for a braver rich tone. Its sturdy structure is balanced with defined variation in its mahogany casing, complimented with naturally developed patina. The piano’s dimensions are a height of 131 cm a width of 147 cm and a depth of 63 cm.
