Serial number K14050. This K. Kawai upright was manufactured in Japan and rebranded Bernhard Steiner in South Africa. These are wonderful pianos, displaying the qualities that have made the factory famous. This particular model is a favourite and this piano is particularly good.
The mahogany case is original and well maintained. The veneer does show the tiny cracks often associated with the brand, but do not really detract from the aesthetic. They’re not noticeable unless looking closely.
The rich tone has a depth comparable to a larger piano. The piano has 88 keys – with a medium touch weight – and 3 pedals, the middle one is a practice pedal operating a celeste-felt rail. This piano is suitable for serious, professionally use and study. Its dimensions are a height of 108cm, a width of 144cm and a depth 58.5cm.
