Serial number: 60490. This piano was manufactured in London, in 1960. Welmar pianos gained great popularity around World War II. The makers, Whelpdale, Maxwell and Codd Ltd., were previously agents for German pianos (they imported Bluthner pianos into Britain) and could no longer import the pianos due to unavailability at the time and less popular due to the negative German sentiments. Welmar pianos were then produced. They are beautifully manufactured instruments which tend to have characteristics associated with quality German pianos.
